This Pineapple Orange Frozen Whip is the perfect summer snack that will certainly cool you down after a long hot day in the sun! Of course my inspiration for this recipe came from Disney World! At Magic Kingdom, Aloha Isle, you can find a delicious frozen treat called, Dole Pineapple Whip! It’s so good and it’s gluten free!

Disney Gluten Free

My husband I spent our honeymoon at Disney and enjoyed this frozen treat. I wanted to recreate something similar for us to enjoy at home.

We loved our honeymoon at Disney, not just because we are kids at heart, but also because they make eating gluten free so easy and effortless. It was one of the first trips that I had been on that I didn’t get sick from gluten exposure.

Growing up my favorite Disney movie was Beauty and the Beast so of course we had to dine at the Beast Castle in Magic Kingdom! When we arrived at the castle to eat, they already knew that I was gluten free! The best part is that my food came out labeled to ensure there was no cross contamination. It was such a wonderful experience knowing that I did not have to worry about food!

Dairy Free Whip

My version of this whip is a little healthier with no added sugar and its dairy free. The milk that I use is coconut milk, full fat from a can. To ensure that the coconut cream mixes with the coconut milk, I submerge the can of milk under hot water for 5 minutes to melt the cream before opening the can. Also, full fat coconut milk needs to be shaken very well before opening the can to blend the cream with the milk. The carton of coconut milk does not work well for this recipe.

The Method

In order to make this recipe, you do need a high speed blender. I have a Vitamix Blender that I absolutely love and use all the time! Vitamix now offers a stainless steel container, which is a great way to get rid of plastic and detox your kitchen.

Equipment

  • 1 high speed blender

Ingredients

  • 1 (13.5 ounce) can of full fat coconut milk
  • 1/2 navel orange, frozen
  • 1 (12 ounce) bag of frozen pineapple

Instructions

  • Before starting this recipe, peel and cut the orange into wedges and freeze overnight. If using fresh pineapple, cut into chunks and freeze overnight.
  • Submerge can of coconut milk in hot water and allow it to set for 5 minutes to ensure the coconut cream softens.
  • Shake can of coconut milk vigorously before opening. (This helps to ensure the cream and milk have combined.)
  • Add 1/2 cup of the canned coconut milk to the blender.
  • Add the frozen orange wedges and frozen pineapple chunks to the blender.
  • Set your blender on lowest setting and increase up to the highest setting allowing the whip to blend for about 1-2 minutes until the whip is the consistency of soft serve ice cream.
  • If you are using a Vitamix that has a frozen dessert setting, then choose this setting to blend the whip.
  • Pour into glasses and serve immediately.
